—  OVERVIEW

The Professional Pickleball Association hosts dozens of championship tournaments throughout the country. With the rise in popularity and celebrity status of professional players, ticket sales are skyrocketing. Tournament stadiums are generally temporary structures erected at tennis clubs. The tournament stadium sits on 3 standard tennis courts, an area 180’ wide x 120 deep, roughly 22,000 sf., with a seating capacity for 1750 spectators.  We developed a prototype tournament design that could be built for permanent use and repeated at various tennis venues across the United States. Concrete over geofoam construction was chosen for a finished look at the lower levels of premium seating. The upper seating levels are traditional steel-and-aluminum stadium structures. VIP boxes at the short ends of the court, with removable walls between, accommodate sponsored gatherings of various sizes. Sightlines were studied so that all occupants can see out-of-bounds on all four sides of the court.
