— OVERVIEW
This award-winning addition to the Utah Field House of Natural History Museum finally brought all their needs under one roof. Before the addition, hundreds of valuable specimens were sent to six other museums because of lack of storage. A large curatorial storage area with high-density shelving now allows the museum to store all paleontological materials on site in a modern facility. Lab space is now an integral part of the museum where newly discovered artifacts can be studied and prepared for exhibit. Perhaps the most unique feature of this new part of the museum is that the lab is directly adjacent to the museum lobby and large viewing windows allow the public to watch as scientists and others carefully uncover and prepare dinosaur bones and other artifacts that are millions of years old.
