— OVERVIEW
Babcock Design was engaged by SIRQ Construction to support their ongoing discussions with Payson City and Payson Fire regarding the expansion and modernization of the community’s fire facilities. Our role focused on developing two comprehensive conceptual design packages to support budgeting efforts and provide the City Council with a clear, actionable feasibility study.
Station No. 1
Payson’s existing Station No. 1—located on Main Street in the heart of the historic downtown—has long surpassed its functional lifespan. After evaluating current operations, future needs, and the constraints of the existing structure, our team determined that a full demolition and replacement would best serve the department moving forward.
The resulting concept emphasizes a strong, traditional architectural expression—one that honors the city’s heritage while establishing a new landmark presence for the Payson Fire Department.
Station No. 2
For Station No. 2, Payson Fire identified a large, undeveloped site intended to accommodate training activities, storage needs, and long-term departmental growth. Adjacent to an area being evaluated for future park use, the design carefully considers secured access, operational efficiency, and community interface.
Our concept takes advantage of the site’s panoramic mountain views while introducing a lodge-inspired architectural identity that creates a memorable civic presence along the primary frontage.
