Esperanza Junior High Annex Building

PROJECT NAME
Esperanza Junior High Annex Building
LOCATION
West Valley City, UT
SQUARE FOOTAGE
10,200
—  OVERVIEW

Growing demand for junior high classes at Esperanza called for more than additional square footage. It called for a place built around how these students actually learn and connect.

A large interior courtyard anchors the annex, surrounded by classrooms and expandable through accordion doors into the adjoining library, science, and lunch spaces, turning a quiet courtyard into a full gathering space when the occasion calls for it.

The annex speaks the same architectural language as the original building, so it reads as one campus, not an addition. A generous canopy shelters families during pick-up and drop-off, and a reworked parking lot eases traffic flow for parents while respecting the neighboring businesses who share the street.
