— OVERVIEW
The Elko Institute for Academic Achievement (EIAA) is a K-8 public charter school serving families in the Elko, NV, area. Founded in 2009, the school has outgrown its existing leased 11,000-square-foot facility, and the new proposed facility will give them more space and the ability to enlarge their student capacity to serve the community better. The proposed new stand-alone building site is on a hillside site just off the freeway with views of the mountains to the south. In addition to classroom space, the new facility offers indoor gymnasium space that the school has yet to enjoy, along with a full-service kitchen, library, and expansive outdoor play areas with room for expansion. The exterior is clad with stucco, metal panel, and fiber-cement siding that sets it apart from the surrounding residential neighborhoods. The bold accent color further distinguishes the school and its mission to provide all children with an enriched academic environment that challenges them to think critically, produce innovative products, develop unique talents, and encourage students to be active problem solvers and persevere and accept educational challenges. The proposed new facility is a reflection of that mission.
