  OVERVIEW

A permanent home for a century-old Utah tradition.

The Days of '47 Arena returns Utah's beloved Pioneer Day rodeo to the Utah State Fair Park after decades off-site. The 10,000-seat arena serves as the centerpiece of a revitalized fairground campus, paired with a hospitality building housing a green room, conference rooms, banquet facilities, office space, and concessions.

The project required an accelerated design and site planning process to meet a one-year construction deadline. Babcock Design positioned the arena within the existing Fair Park fabric — maintaining adjacencies to the historic equine barn and maintenance buildings while introducing design details that echo the campus's established vernacular: CMU patterning, roof dormers, and a coordinated building palette.

Serving as liaison between Days of '47, the Utah State Fair Park, and the State of Utah, Babcock Design ensured project decisions remained aligned with both the vision and the budget.
