Alta Point Apartments
Alta Point Apartments brings 400 homes to one of Utah's most anticipated redevelopments — the 600-acre transformation of the former Utah State Prison site in Draper. The two-phase affordable housing project sits on four acres directly along the Neighborhood Trail, connecting residents to the River-to-Range regional trail system and the masterplan's central Promenade and Green. The building's organization is as considered as its context: five levels of wood-framed construction over a two-level Type I podium house parking, amenities, and trail-facing stoop units that activate the ground plane. Mid-block, the massing splits deliberately to form a central canyon — a passage that draws the eye from street to interior courtyard, where the architecture shifts in character from the public-facing elevations. It's a project that earns its density by spending it well.
