AFFORDABLE HOUSING THAT EARNS ITS DENSITY BY SPENDING IT WELL.
Alta Point Apartments delivers 400 affordable homes within one of Utah’s most anticipated redevelopments, the 600-acre transformation of the former Utah State Prison site in Draper. Positioned directly along the Neighborhood Trail and connected to the River-to-Range regional trail system and the master plan’s central Promenade and Green, the project is as thoughtfully placed as it is designed. Five levels of wood-framed construction over a two-level Type I podium accommodate parking, amenities, and trail-facing stoop units that activate the ground plane. Mid-block, the massing deliberately splits to form a central canyon, drawing the eye from the street to the interior courtyard, where the architecture shifts in character from that of the public-facing elevations. For a project serving affordable housing residents on a redevelopment site of this scale and visibility, that level of design intention matters. Alta Point earns its density by investing it back into the community it serves.
