Utah Military Academy, Valdez-Peterson Campus

The Utah Military Academy is a public charter school that provides free education to students in grades 7-12. The institution emphasizes academic excellence as a prerequisite for admission to a United States Military Academy or to qualify for ROTC scholarships. The school recently constructed a new 54,000-square-foot two-story building in Lehi, Utah, which serves as the cornerstone for its second campus.

The academy strives to foster a strong military culture that promotes core values, academic excellence, and community engagement. Located near Camp Williams Army Base, the school leverages the participation of numerous active-duty military personnel to enhance its curriculum.

The new building features conventional classroom spaces along with open cadet and student gathering areas that facilitate social interaction. The building's design is inspired by the styles of other renowned military schools and academies across the country, with simple forms and shapes. The subdued colors of the building allow it to blend into the nearby residential neighborhood. Additionally, the campus provides a complete sports program for fall, winter, and spring sports, including a large playing field, gymnasium, drill space, and more.

Babcock Design collaborated with the developer and the school to create a building layout that caters to the school's functional needs.
