Ute Tribe Justice Center

fort Duchesne, Utah

The Ute Indian Tribe Justice Center is a tribal facility to include juvenile detention, adult detention, law enforcement and courts. The facility will function under direct supervision allowing the detention staff to build personal relationships with the inmates which aids in the operation of a safely run facility. The facility is designed with two detention pods flanking a central administration building. The pods are an octagonal shape which facilitates officer observation in the day rooms. The main level of the administration building includes booking, central control, the kitchen and laundry and the program rooms for inmate education.

The upper level of the administration building includes the courtroom, the chief judge and the courts support staff, the prosecution and support staff, the public defender and support staff, and adult parole and probation. It also includes law enforcement offices, emergency operations center and a 911 call center. The building construction is honed and split face concrete block in earth tone colors reflective of the surrounding Uintah Basin. The landscaping includes native plants found on tribal lands and in the State of Utah.
