The Utah Military Academy is a free public charter school for grades 7-12 that recognizes academic excellence is a requirement for admission to a United States Military Academy or to qualify for ROTC scholarships. The new 54,000 SF two-story building serves as the cornerstone for the school’s second campus located in Lehi, Utah.
The school focuses on a strong military culture that promotes a commitment to core values, an academic environment of excellence, and encourages engagement with family and community. Located near Camp Williams Army Base, the school is able to leverage the involvement of many active duty military personnel to enhance its’ curriculum.
The building features traditional classroom spaces with open cadet/student gathering spaces to facilitate social interaction. The simple forms and shapes are derived from the design styles of other prominent military schools and academies through the country. The subdued colors are provided to blend in with the growing residential neighborhood nearby. The campus also offers a full sports program for fall winter, and spring sports including the large playing field and gymnasium, drill space and more.
